Lana Parrilla has an epic "OUAT"-"Star Wars" crossover idea

Who would win in a fight between the Evil Queen and Darth Vader? ABC

Details are scarce about the upcoming seventh season of Once Upon a Time, especially because the show is almost being rebooted, with several main characters departing and Henry (Andrew J. West) now a grown man with a young daughter, Lucy (Alison Fernandez).

But that doesn't mean fans and stars alike can't speculate or make wish lists -- and actress Lana Parrilla has a particularly juicy idea for a "more contemporary" Disney crossover like how the show dipped into the world of Frozen a couple years ago.

"I think we should somehow incorporate Star Wars," she tells Gold Derby in a recent interview. "I think that [creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis] are huge Star Wars fans and if there was a way to bring Darth Vader in, that would be cool."

She even thinks if the Evil Queen weren't already involved with someone, Darth Vader would be a "better love interest" for her character. But since that is off the table, she'll settle for an epic battle of evildoers.

"I think it would be fun to battle him. I've seen crazy fan art with the Evil Queen vs. Darth Vader and they're both holding light sabers, I just love that," says Parrilla with a laugh.

But in all seriousness, she also says that she loves how Regina and the Evil Queen have come to an understanding and embraced both their dark and light sides.

"It took [Regina] some time to embrace both parts of her, that darkness that she really just despised for so long. We all have parts of ourselves that we don't like ... and I think it's critical for humans to learn to embrace their darkness because it's there for a reason," says Parrilla. "She chooses to finally accept herself and embrace it and really that's what the Evil Queen wanted all along -- to be accepted, to be loved, to be understood."

She adds, "[Regina's] motto is really 'good can come from broken.' She always believed that she could be a better person. Even in moments when she doubted it, there must have been a deeper part of her that really strived to change and she put the hard work and effort in and she's reaping the rewards now. I never thought that I would play a character ... who has grown the way she has."
