Specchio Segreto (Secret Mirror) is a Rai TV-show in seven weekly bouts, written and directed by Nanni Loy, broadcasted on the National Program (Rai) starting on Thursday 19 November 1964. Inspired by the fortunate USA Candid Camera, filming unsuspecting and common street people facing surreal situations, orchestrated by professional actors. Secret Mirror distinguished itself from the original for the creative intelligence of its author. Loy added cynicism to situations, highlighting the psychology of the unprepared victim, overcoming the ending comedy in itself limiting the rush of the unfortunate. The broadcast became a ruthless magnifying lens of social alienation that in the industrialized civilization of those years began to spread to Italy.
