Ana, abandoned by her husband, who confesses to having fallen in love with another woman, tries to reorganize her life with a new man, but this time without getting married. They will live in full freedom of feelings; that is, until their love for one another lasts. Ana has the problem of not knowing who she is in her inner reality and yet she must behave as if she had already found herself. The protagonist is imprisoned in bourgeois convictions and her life as a couple cannot be a success with herself. Andrés is often ignorant and believes he is doing things well, because he works just as he has been educated that he should work. He reacts, finding no support in the feelings of others, when he realizes that the life he leads does not fit in with his wishes. He is completely alone, surrounded by people who function blindly. His only reaction is to seek a way out of his great chaos, he makes his confessions to his friend Ivan.
