A wealthy lady of unknown name, who is only referred to as the good one in the list of persons, lost both legs in an accident in which her husband died. She lives with her servant Johanna and her second husband Boris, who is also legless. This lived in a neighboring "cripple asylum" until the lady married him and brought him over to her house.
