Odessa, August 1970, the city is full of tourists. Foreign affairs journalist Boris and his eight-year-old son Valik arrive from Moscow to visit his in-laws. But on the day of his arrival, Odessa reports a quarantine due to the cholera outbreak, and the city will remain closed.
