Local vet and conservationist Dr. Simon Shepard is relieved he can finally turn over its animals to a successor, until he finds out 'Alex' Reading stands for Alexandra, yet agrees to work her in and grows closer, as does devoted animal keeper Geoffrey. All three wonder who repeatedly steals animals. Philip hired Alex, his ex, without telling he's the owner.
