The special 'Mulher 90' mixed music and journalism to honor women, bringing up discussions about the evolution of women's role in society. Conceived by Daniel Filho, who 11 years earlier had directed 'Mulher 80', the program featured interviews with prominent women that year, such as then minister Zélia Cardoso de Mello, psychiatrist Nise da Silveira, presenter Xuxa and writer Ana Miranda, interspersed with musical numbers by singers such as Gal Costa, Rita Lee, Elba Ramalho and Cássia Eller. The presentation was in charge of Regina Duarte, who led the first edition of the program, in 1979.
