It's really just a formality: Heribert, long-time chairman of the Lengenheide tennis club, and his ambitious deputy Matthias are putting the purchase of a barbecue for the next club party to a vote. Torsten, a hip advertising copywriter who has emigrated from Berlin to the provinces, comes up with a snappy slogan to bring the dull meeting to a quick end. Then his wife Melanie suggests buying a second barbecue for her doubles partner Erol, the only Muslim member of the club. As is well known, devout Muslims are not allowed to put their barbecue sausages on a grill with pork. The well-intentioned idea leads, sentence by sentence, to a turbulent exchange in which atheists and believers, Germans and Turks, do-gooders and hardliners clash head-on. It quickly becomes clear to everyone that this is about much more than a barbecue...
