A young fringe man, Stathis, undertakes to assassinate a Bulgarian diplomat, but hesitates at the last moment and deliberately misses. His agent was a close friend of his, Leo, who is a prominent member of a criminal organization. The leader of the organization orders the extermination of the errant executioner, but Leo warns him and he flees to an uncle's farm, asking for help to cross the border. Iphigenia, a young teacher who lost her husband in a car accident and broke up with her mother, has also taken refuge there. The two young people soon fall in love, but their lives are threatened, both by Leo, who can no longer cover for his friend, and by another member of the organization, Sakis. Stathis, in order to save his uncle and Iphigenia, kills the two executioners and disappears from the known ambushes, fleeing in an unknown direction.
