Shows how Abdou heard about Germany for the first time in school, the country against which his, mother country France was once at war. The teacher plays Beethoven for them. With Abdou something 'clicks' and we do see him arriving ten years later as an aspiring biology student in Munich. The film is about his life there, about misunderstandings, friendships and Abdou's arduous struggle against the backward image of Africa that dominates people then and now.
