Spring 1944. The war is coming to an end. Thousands of concentration camp prisoners were brought in to repair the battered defense structures on the Normandy coast. On one of the islands, a small group of prisoners, led by Colonel Zakharov, is preparing an uprising. The course of events was accelerated by an action undertaken by French prisoners of war. They barricaded themselves in a bunker and were ready, sacrificing themselves, to blow up the fortress.
