In 1895, at the end of the Federalist Revolution, the rebel captain Francisco Saraiva and five knights cross the south of Brazil in an exasperating hunt to rescue the head of Gumercindo Saraiva, cut off by the loyalists and taken to the capital by Major Ramiro de Oliveira and two assistants.
