Don Sabino is an old-fashioned gray civil servant who, in pursuit of freedom, decides to break with everything and joins, along with his sons Palmira and Eusebio - the latter student of examinations - to a traveling circus. The wandering life, however, is not what the whole family expected and they begin to consider returning to the office. Only Don Sabino and his grandson offer resistance.
