After the abandonment of his wife, Gianni Rodinò, a middle-aged cook, drowns his sorrows in wine. His only friend is Ginetto, a young thief who lives with him and who, after some misunderstandings, helps him to realize his life's dream: to buy a disused railway car and transform it into a restaurant.
