Unlucky Bernie Lootz has little going for him: he lives in a dreary place in a run-down motel near the Las Vegas Strip and spends his time working as a "cooler" at the Shangri-La and trying to pay off his debt to casino boss Shelly Kaplow, but when he meets the woman of his dreams, Bernie wonders if his luck might have really changed.
