In the north of France, laborers work in the construction and repair of barges, and are housed in barracks grouped together in camps. The action of this film takes place in camp 13. Greta, a beautiful young nymphomaniac woman comes from another camp, everyone courts her including Charles, the leader of the camp who confides in her that if one day she needs of something she can count on him. During a party, a fight breaks out between two of his suitors, the one who is rejected takes revenge by shooting the other and seriously injuring him.
