During the council in Constance in 1415, the church dignitaries discussed whether they wanted to recognize the pope in Avignon or the one in Rome as head of the church in the future. The young Adlatus of the Archbishop of Bordeaux, sent to the Bavarian Elector, finds him in the arms of a city-famous courtesan, whom he too cannot resist. He stands out clerical and secular dignitaries as competitors for their favor and uses the situation to his advantage.
