A widowed merchant moves to the countryside with his six children after going bankrupt. His youngest daughter, Belle, is the only one happy with the change. When the merchant's lost ship is found, he plans to reclaim his assets. On the way, he encounters the Beast's magical domain, where his needs are met. However, he is caught picking a rose and must return to the castle or his family will be killed. Feeling responsible, Belle offers herself in her father's place.
