A woman from a good family perceives the crisis of her marriage but is taken by surprise by the death of her husband, a victim of usury for gambling debts. At her funeral she meets a friend of her husband with a dark past, a graduate who works as a bricklayer, wanted by the police, with whom the woman will soon fall in love, fascinated by her frankness and goodness of soul.
