Navy officer Guido De Mauri returns to Italy to meet his brother Riccardo's girlfriend. When Guido meets Nelly, she identifies the woman he had an affair with at the Calcutta house of pleasure. Nelly earned money to support her elderly mother and her little sister Daisy, but since her mother died, she's back on the road and genuinely fell in love with young Riccardo.
