Chief inspectors Leo Kraft (Henning Baum) and Nina Metz (Elena Uhlig) investigate together for the Munich criminal police. They are a well-rehearsed team and use wit and cool expertise to track down even the most cunning criminals. But success in the job is offset by complex relationship problems. While the chaotic Nina is constantly having trouble with men in her private life, everything is going well for her gay colleague Leo at first. But over the course of the series, his relationship with musician Thorsten is put to the test. Eventually the two split up and Leo's ex-boyfriend Bernd moves back in with him. In addition to the amusing manhunts, the series places a great deal of emphasis on the private lives of the two main characters, with Leo taking on the role of Nina's calming comforter.
