Description of Persons was a ZDF documentary film series in which the journalist and documentary filmmaker Georg Stefan Troller portrayed and interviewed more or less prominent people, mostly artists. Troller wrote and directed all episodes. His subjective way of questioning became a model for many journalists, documentary filmmakers and talk show hosts. A total of 70 films were made in the series between 1972 and 1993. Troller worked particularly closely with cameraman Carl-Franz Hutterer and editor Elfi Kreiter, whose virtuosity helped shape the films. The duration of each episode is between 30 and 45 minutes. The series of personal descriptions was not assigned to a fixed editorial team and had no fixed broadcast slot; the films were shown both on the evening before and in the late program.
