Estela Morales is a young orphan who owns a ruined hacienda full of debt called "El Vendaval". When her mother dies, Estela discovers that she needs a husband to collect the inheritance she left him. Desperate, seeing that this is the only way to get money to save the farm, she places an advertisement in the newspaper requesting candidates.
