Rachel (Irene Ravache), an unhappily married woman, decides to separate from businessman Virgílio (Cécil Thiré) in order to pursue her own happiness. She leaves Petrópolis and moves in with her mother, Laura (Beatriz Segall), in Ipanema. It is there that she meets her great love: the rude Heitor (Jardel Filho), who owns a mechanic's shop.
