Rachel, an unhappily married woman, decides to separate from businessman Virgílio in order to pursue her own happiness. She leaves Petrópolis and moves in with her mother, Laura, in Ipanema. It is there that she meets her great love: the rude Heitor, who owns a mechanic's shop.
