Jordan, an American diplomat, is pressured into marrying Bettie, a wealthy American businesswoman's granddaughter. Unhappy, he escapes to Thailand with his friend Ken. Changing his name to George, he befriends Song, a three-wheeler driver, and ends up helping Song's family in the local market. George meets Deuan, the elder daughter of the market owner. Initially resentful, Deuan starts to admire George, and their relationship blossoms into love.
