The musical melodrama revolves around three young women of different backgrounds and personalities who become singers in the 1950s. Fong Chi Mei (Anita Mui) is a formerly rich girl who falls on hard times after her father collapses and her family goes bankrupt. With the help of her friend To Kuen (Flora King), who has been singing from a young age to pay off her father's gambling debt, Chi Mei enters the entertainment circle and rises as a singer. Jealous of Chi Mei's success, classmate Ting Ting (Agnes Chiang) approaches her in hopes of also becoming a star. Michael Miu and Kent Tong co-star in the drama as Anita Mui and Agnes Chiang's romantic interests.
