Game Show, Family
In this 1979-82 revival of the classic, two teams, each consisting of a celebrity guest and a studio contestant, compete against each other by guessing mystery words ("passwords") by way of one-word clues given by their partners.
The first team to reach $300 moves on to Alphabetics, where the contestant and his or her celebrity partner try to guess ten passwords that began with consecutive letters of the alphabet (for example, the letters A-J). Get all ten within a sixty second time limit and the contestant wins $5000.
Since its original incarnation on CBS in 1961, Allen Ludden has served as host of Password, including the 1971 ABC reboot, and this 1979 NBC variation on the game. In 1980, Tom Kennedy took over hosting duties.
