Aboard the English Warspite, Dom Pedro I, the first Emperor of Brazil returns to Europe. During his journey, he reflects on his life in Brazil from the early years of his childhood - when he arrived with his parents from Portugal in 1808 - until his departure in the dead of night, when he flees the country while being stoned by the population in 1831.
