The film begins in 1947, N. T. Rama Rao (Nandamuri Balakrishna) works as a sub-register at Bezawada sub-courts, who is unsatisfied with his the job, so, he resigns and decides to enter into the movie field. His ideal companion wife Basavaramatarakam (Vidya Balan) and loyal affectionate brother N. Trivikrama Rao (Daggupati Raja) always supports his interests and intentions. Now Rama Rao reaches Madras, meets Director L. V. Prasad (Jisshu Sengupta) who introduces him to Director B. A. Subba Rao (Naresh) and he is selected as a hero without any audition in the movie ''Palletoori Pilla''. On the set, he gets acquainted with star hero Akkineni Nageswara Rao (Sumanth) and both of them become good friends. But unfortunately, the movie gets delayed due to financial problems. Meanwhile, he is introduced in the movie ''Mana Desam'' in a cameo role and also gets an opportunity in the ''Vijaya Productions'' banner on monthly wages who produce his first film ''Shavukaru'' which is a disaster. Thereafter, B. Nagi Reddy (Prakash Raj) & Alur Chakrapani (Murali Sharma) decide to make a project ''Pathala Bhairavi''. When everybody suggests the name of Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Director Kadiri Venkata Reddy (Krish) insists Rama Rao as Thota Ramudu which becomes a blockbuster and establishes Rama Rao as a first Indian Super Star. Soon, he shifts his family to Madras, at that time, there was a severe drought in the Rayalaseema region, so, Rama Rao unites several industry stalwarts and collects donations from the public when Nagireddy clashes with him. Angered Rama Rao leaves their production, starts his own banner ''National Art Theatres'' introducing Trivikrama Rao as a producer along with his brother-in-law Rukmanandha Rao (Vennela Kishore) and he too gives an opportunity to his friends Tatineni Prakash Rao (Vasu Inturi), Dasari Yoganand (Ravi Prakash) and T. V. Raju (Surabhi Jayachandra Varma). Afterward, Nagireddy & Chakrapani again approach Rama Rao, request him to act on their banne
