Eddie Rodney Fleming (Hugo Weaving) is a man living alone after losing his job and family. One morning, while sleeping in an armchair, Eddie is woken by the sound of the police breaking into his apartment. The police, led by Detective Sergeant John Steele (Tony Martin (Australian actor)), ransack Eddie's belongings and take him down to the police station, where they begin a lengthy interrogation.
