"The Whole World" tells the story of Chary Quintanilla (Julian's mother in real life) who died young of cancer and whom her son visits every year for his birthday at the cemetery. Inspired by Buñuel and Almodóvar, Quintanilla (44, originally from Badajoz) pushes his mother out of the grave and they both converse sitting on a bench. Every year La Chary asks her son to do something for her.
