Teresa Hernández, who everyone calls 'Gaviota', is a farm worker who travels around the country with her mother Clara, working on the farms harvesting the crops. Every year they return to San Juan, to the 'La Montalveña' farm, owned by Don Amador. When Don Amador dies, his family gathers for the funeral and at the reading of the will they discover that the family fortune will fall to the first son, who has his grandson Rodrigo. Rodrigo studies a doctorate abroad and meets Gaviota at the farm, and they both fall in love. Shortly after they separate, Gaviota discovers that she is pregnant from her relationship with Rodrigo and she decides to go look for him in London. During the trip she is tricked and taken to Paris where she falls into a white slavery gang. From here Gaviota's life becomes a real nightmare until she manages to escape and fight to find her true love.
