Real Man (Hangul: 진짜 사나이) is a South Korean variety show featuring eight male celebrities as they experience life in the military, which is mandatory for all Korean men for two years. The show debuted on MBC on April 14, 2013, as part of the Sunday Night programming block.
Korean men like to say “I learned everything I know in the army.” Surely, an “army” is a microcosm of society. During their service, young men from diverse backgrounds and personalities learn how to get along with others while having their mental and physical abilities pushed to the limits.
What they learn in the army lays a strong foundation in life. Real Men is different from other army-themed variety shows that usually focus on the tough boot camp experience. The show takes five male celebrities with distinct personalities back to the military to experience it in its entirety.
Followed by spin-off series Real Men 300.
