The March 12 documentary is a documentary series by Mehmet Ali Birand, Can Dündar and Bülent Çaplı about the May 27 Military Coup and the March 12 period. It picks up where Demirkırat (1991), also made by Mehmet Ali Birand and the "32. Gün" team, left off. Starting with the execution of Adnan Menderes and two of his ministers, the documentary series covers the general elections of 1961, the election of Cemal Gürsel as president, coalitions under the prime ministership of İsmet İnönü, the February 22 and May 20 uprisings led by Colonel Talat Aydemir, the rise to power of Süleyman Demirel, the election of Cevdet Sunay as president, the 1968 generation, the right-left conflict, the March 9 junta and the memorandum given to the government on March 12, 1971. The documentary begins with three executions and ends with three gallows.
