The film opens in Norway and we see a sixteen year old Nisha (Maria mozdah) running to her home . Her father (Adil Hussain) checks if everyone is asleep and Nisha manages to get into bed in time. Nisha is living a double life. She loves playing basketball with her Norwegian friends. But she belongs to a Pakistani family and behaves like an ideal daughter at home. She has a love interest and we see them return smiles and glances. Nisha gets a call from her mother who asks her too come home when Nisha doesn't want to go. Her boyfriend tries to walk her home but as soon as she sees a lady in a dupatta she leaves. She comes home to her mother and her friends preparing for her father's birthday. She is told to go and give mithai (sweets) to her father at their shop. Her crop top is soon layered with a coat because of some comments made by her mother's friends. After hanging out with her friends she returns home. There are celebrations going on because it's her father's birthday. The entire family dances to mirza's favorite song. After the celebrations her mom is worried about 'what will people say' about them dancing. Nisha and her boyfriend, Daniel, are in her room. Nothing much happens apart from flirting. The phone rings and Mirza comes into her room and seeing a boy in his daughter's room he starts beating him up. Their neighbors call the police and Nisha is taken to a child welfare agency where they give her a room to stay. The counselor tells her that she has done nothing wrong. Next day, there is a family meeting. Mirza insists that Nisha marry Daniel assuming that they had sex the night before which is not true. Nisha tries to explain but fails. The people of the Pakistani community in Norway tell Mirza to take severe actions on Nisha. He gets influenced by them and is scared for their reputation and what Nisha will have to face in the future. The next day her mother calls her and asks her to come home.
