At the end of the 19th century, an arrogant young Danish priest is sent to establish a church in a remote part of Iceland. The deeper he travels into the Icelandic landscape, the more his resolve and self-control are tested by harsh terrain, temptations of the flesh, and the reality of being an intruder in an unforgiving world.
